ROTF Sideswipe G1custom repaint

I like the toy but hated the colour and don't get me started on swerve.

And I finally got myself a new camera. But I am still trying to get its hidden potential out. I will get more pics uploaded once I get my light rig working.

Transformers Custom G1 Shattered Glass Optimus Prime

Here's another custom for you guys. A friend of mine bought an old g1 Prime toy from a guy selling it cheap. He came to me telling me that he has quite a few of these and ask me to paint one of them in another colour. So I asked him if he has any idea what he wants and he said no, so I suggested the shattered glass Prime colours and he said ok. I think now it lacks some stickers, maybe order some from reprolabels and it should look nice. Pardon the crude setup, I am in the midst of getting a better camera and light rig.

Transformers Movie Transcanning Optimus Prime

Back again with another post. This time I will showing you folks the Transcanning Optimus Prime from the Takara movie line.

At first glance, I keep thinking T-800 from Terminator. This is actually the base toy for its add on parts, I don't think we see anything like this in the movie. The figure is surprisingly articulate and can do all kinds of posing. Its just to bad about its strange terminator look though.

This is suppose to be Prime's cybertronian mode in the movie. I don't really know how accurate it is, it still reminds me of T 800. Its a little less articulate with all the parts snapped on him. A stand is included to showcase him in 'crashing meteor mode?' Another resemblance is Saint Seiya and Garo figures.

Prime's Earth mode in the movie, sadly the only mode I like is the vehicle mode. The robot mode has almost no articulation with all the parts hindering each other. The elbows bend in a very awkward manner, but at least there is chrome. I like chrome, did I mention that it is also extremely hard to transform to vehicle mode?

Transformers Micron Legends Convoy, Jetfire and Overload

Hi all, its been a while. I've been busy with some projects, so I haven't been able to update this blog for a while. I managed to steal some time from my work to do some updating for this entry, so let's get to it.

The Micron Legends (Armada in the US) is one of the more successful series ever since G1 ended. The story is not canon in TF mythos but yet garners quite a huge following. I have not watch the series yet but I do hope I get to spare some time to see what I've been missing out.

Let's see some pictures.

First up is Overload. The limbs do not bend at the 'elbows' and 'knees', its just a very blocky looking character. I think its cute in a robotic sort of way. It transforms into dual cannons that attaches to the back of Optimus.

Jetfire, more articulated than overload and I like its chubby design. But why does he use a loudspeaker for a weapon?

Here we have the star of the show. I liked the truck's robot mode but the combined super mode doesn't sit well with me especially with its legs wide apart like that. And being unable to bend the knees in super mode sucks too. Not shown here is its base mode. Its sort of a spiritual successor to Ginrai but comparing the designs, Ginrai would definitely kick this Convoy's ass.

Moving on we shall see the combine mode of the 3 Transformers.

This is how they combined when in vehicle mode. Again see the spiritual resemblance to Ginrai and God Bomber combination? It possesses the same problems too, for one I can't display it in this mode because I don't have a case wide enough for me to display this in. Which leads me to...

This mode I can live with. It looks bad ass, the 2 cannons reminds me of Gundam Virtue in 00. The only gripes I have with it is that its too top heavy and can easily fall over if given enough a strong breeze and the knees can't bend. I think the kness being unable to bend is the biggest thing that's turning me off on this figure. How do one expect to give it a kick ass pose if you can't bend the knees? Thank god recent Takara/Hasbro abominations do not have these problems. At least if they look ugly, they still can pose well.

SDCC Nemesis Prime with Shadow Commander Upgrade Kit

I've been busy so haven't been updating this blog. So let's get down to business, the Shadow Commander Upgrade Kit. Can't say I'm excited about it, because it pretty much the same chiselled plastic as the City Commander Upgrade Kit plus a pink sword and changeable face plate.

Here's where you store the sword.

Screw vehicle mode, its not what I pay my kidney for. And if you notice I custom painted my nemesis prime slightly just to get rid of the grey plastic look.

Interchangeable face plate
Sword holder, looks weird

Comparing to City Commander, I actually prefer the colour scheme on this better. Looks more bad ass to me. But for the price I paid, I was actually hoping for something more than just a translucent pink sword and changeable face plate. Maybe some rocket boosters or wings and maybe significant changes in the structure. Maybe Powered Convoy upgrade kit will be better.
